The wedding was fabulous! It started with the wedding party (best man: Scott Alexander with ring bearer: Rodeo, groomsman: Chris Houser with flower girl: Sake, matron of honor: BobbiJo Sheler, bridesmaid: Ili Wathen with honorary bridesmaid: Natalie, bridesmaid: Crystal Hartford) walking down to the front to Black Sabbath's "Nativity In Black (NIB)"…loved that! The intensity in the music was getting PJ hyped up waiting for her turn! She walked down to Johnny Cash's "I Walk The Line"…it's a song that Chad and her listen to when they're traveling (usually cross country), since Johnny Cash's Biggest Hits CD is one of their favorites. Chad and PJ said their vows (which they wrote themselves), and then exchanged rings. The wedding bands are made of Carbon Fiber and are black in color (can you tell they're not "conventional" people?), and PJ has her Grandma's wedding bands on top of those (they transferred their engagement rings to their right hands). Crystal's friend Ryan stood at the front dressed as a demon, and after Chad and PJ had their first kiss as husband and wife (and Chad bit PJ's neck like the Vampire he is), Ryan declared, "I now pronounce this…a marriage made in 'Hell'!"…it was awesome! Then, Crystal sang "At Last" (a song Chad has always wanted her to sing at his wedding)…she's got mad talent!
The girls were dressed in orange and black witch outfits (PJ made BobbiJo and Ili's, Chad's mom made Crystal's), Natalie wore her Supergirl costume, the guys were dressed in complete black, with Scott wearing an orange cummerbund, and Rodeo and Sake had on Halloween collars. PJ made her dress…a white civil war ball gown with orange trim and black lace…and had a Black Widow spider crawling down the skirt, an orange spider tiara, and orange and black beads going around the trim on her veil. Chad rented an old fashioned tux with tails, a top hat, and wore fangs and contacts to be PJ's dream Vampire!
We were introduced with "theme songs" that went as follows:
BobbiJo – Randy Travis "Forever and Ever, Amen"
Chris – Michael Jackson "Thriller"
Ili and Natalie – Prince "Kiss"
Scott – Kool & The Gang "Jungle Boogie"
Crystal – Billie Holiday "I Only Have Eyes For You"
Mr & Mrs Chad Miller – Theme from "Addam's Family" (although that got messed up and didn't happen as planned)
There was a "Died and Doom" cake, complete with blood dripping down and severed heads around the bottom. When they cut it, they had fun shoving it up each other's noses. The cake was very good. But not so much on their first anniversary when they thawed the top and tasted it...yuck!
The first dance was to Little Big Town's "Bring It On Home"…that song has a lot of meaning to it, and they felt strongly about it ever since the first time they heard it. The father/daughter dance was supposed to be Holly Dunn's "Daddy's Hands" but since PJ's Daddy wasn't able to come, her friend Rob (who she has known since first grade) stepped in and danced with her to Toby Keith's "Who's Your Daddy". Chad and his Mom, Carla, danced to Lee Ann Womack's "I Hope You Dance".
Everyone did the YMCA, the Cha-Cha Slide, and the Macarena! They got down to lots of Madonna, and danced to "Doing Da Butt" and had lots of Halloween music throughout…yes, even Chad got up and danced to Michael Jackson's "Thriller"…that was awesome!!! The last song played was from Grease: "We Go Together"…that was great with everyone out there trying to do the dances from the musical!
It was an awesome wedding, and definitely the happiest day of their lives! It will never be forgotten, and is still talked about by friends and family that attended!
